BeHere / 1942: Makimono

This meticulously crafted picture scroll is one of a limited edition of ten created as a final conceptual addition to Masaki Fujihata’s exhibition and public art installation BeHere / 1942: A New Lens on the Japanese American Incarceration, which was first shown at the Japanese American National Museum from May 7, 2022, to January 8, 2023. It was conceived and produced as a collaboration between Fujihata and the Yanai Initiative at UCLA and Waseda University.
